Measuring for the right DoorDam takes just 3 easy steps:

Step 1:  Decide Which DoorDam™ Model Is Right For Your Building.

DoorDam 1800™

    • For minor to moderate flash flooding, storm drain overflow, etc.
    •  Holds back up to 16-inches of water

DoorDam 2600™

    • For heavy flooding, hurricane protection, etc.
    • Holds back up to 24-inches of water

DoorDam 3600™

    • Indusrtial protection for heavy flooding and hurricane protection
    • Holds back up to 34-inches of water

Step 2:  Measure The Opening To Be Protected
Measure the width between masonry vertical surfaces ("A") just in front of the door frame where the DoorDam is to be installed. DoorDam is adjustable up to a total of four inches in width to fit a number of openings ranging in width from 28” to 50” so a measurement within the nearest half-inch is fine (round up).  The opening must be at least 1.5-inches deep ("B") for the DoorDam 1800 and 2600 models and 2.5-inches deep ("B") for the DoorDam 3600 to fit properly, otherwise jamb brackets (see table below)  will be needed.  Remember, two or more DoorDams can be combined end-to-end to protect wider openings with the mullion (see below). Do not install DoorDam on a wooden doorjamb, but in front of, or behind the doorjamb on solid, watertight masonry, concrete or metal surface in good condition. If you need to use the Face Mount Z-Bracket because you don't have a deep ("B") enough frame, measure ("C") and make sure it is FLUSH with the wall ("A" + "C" = "D") Also, when using the Face Mount Z-Bracket add 2-inches to your total width.

Step 3:  Determine The Right Bracket For Your Opening
The J-Brace hardware is included with each DoorDam. If your opening cannot accommodate the J-Brace by itself, it can be used in conjunction with one of the special jamb brackets shown below...

Door Jamb Brackets.
DoorDam can fit into virtually any opening with the use of our J-Brace, Z-bracket, L-bracket and 7"Spacer Z-Bracket. Each is used in a unique way depending on the configuration of your opening. When configuring your DoorDam™ solution, you’ll be asked to choose the type of opening you have, so we can determine which bracket works best with your DoorDam™.  Click here to see the types of brackets available to stop flooding better than sandbags.

DoorDam Mullion.
Mullions can be purchased to connect two or more DoorDams to cover wider opening. When used and installed properly there will be no loss in strength or effectiveness of the DoorDam™ system so they can be linked end-to-end almost infinitely. The mullions are epoxy-painted high strength low carbon steel, and come with power bolt sleeve anchors and bolts. We even provide the proper drill bit (sold separatley).

Technical info: The Mullion "foot" will need at least 11-inches of smooth, level sill and at least 4-inches of concrete pad to anchor into.
